    dupa EPA:

    - Civic 1.8 sedan 6l% in afara si 7.8% urban.

    - Fit 1.5 HB are medie de 5.2%

    • Asta e teoria cu aia 5,2% ca-n practica inca nimeni n-a putut sa-i dovedeasca!

Its 1.5-liter, 16-valve SOHC VTEC® engine, along with the Drive-by-Wire Throttle System,™ provides remarkable fuel economy. In fact, the Fit and the Fit Sport equipped with 5-speed manual transmission, both achieve 33 city/38 highway mpg.* And all Fit models run on regular unleaded gas.

*The 5-speed automatic Fit gets 31/38 mpg and the 5-speed automatic Fit Sport gets 31/37 mpg. All mpg figures are based on 2007 mileage estimates. Use for comparison purposes only. Actual mileage may vary.

DETROIT — Honda Motor Co. says it might be able to build hybrid vehicles that get 65 miles per gallon — 30-percent better mileage than the company's 2006 Civic hybrid — with the help of a high-tech compression-ignition gasoline engine, according to The Wall Street Journal.

"At the same time, the company is developing new diesel engines for its larger vehicles in the U.S., says Automotive News.

Like other automakers, Honda is working on so-called homogeneous-charge compression-ignition or HCCI engines. These power plants ignite the air-gasoline mixture by compressing it, as a diesel does, rather than using a spark plug — but at lower temperatures. The company says it expects to show a prototype four-cylinder HCCI system as early as next year.

Honda is working on diesel engines for the U.S. because it can't simply borrow a diesel engine from its European lineup that would easily meet U.S. emission standards. Honda CEO Takeo Fukui says the carmaker might offer a V6 diesel engine in North America on its future products."

                          • Honda bulks up

Honda Motor Co. today announced that it plans to build a new assembly plant in the U.S. as part of a $1.18 billion expansion. The No. 3 Japanese automaker wants to boost sales from 3.39 million to 4.5 million by 2010. (Reuters) Demand for Honda vehicles is rising, and the No. 3 Japanese automaker cannot meet demand with the five factories it already has in North America -- two in Ohio, one in Alabama, and one each in Mexico and Canada. Indiana and Ohio have already begun trying to lure the new plant, which will bring 2,500 jobs. "It's an enormous opportunity," said Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels. (AP in Yahoo! Finance)
