GPWC's getting ready for 2008
Everything to be in place this year?
Friends or enemies?
The GPWC (Ferrari, Renault, BMW and Mercedes) are actively preparing the series which is supposed to replace Formula One by 2008.
The objective of the GPWC is to have a better distribution of the money generated by F1. Bernie Ecclestone is considered to be too greedy and the members of the GPWC don't want to tolerate it anymore.
"We are not here to criticise Bernie Ecclestone because he has done an unbelievable job with Formula One, but it doesn’t work as well as it could or should," said a GPWC spokesman to the Times Online. "There are a lot of things that are right, but there are increasingly a lot of things that are not right. We have to move quickly because, realistically, things need to be in place during 2005 if we are to be ready in time."
Most people believe that the GPWC was organised as a pressure tactic to force Bernie Ecclestone to negotiate better terms after the end of the current Concorde Agreements. However, George Taylor, who is the commercial head of GPWC, doesn't agree with this notion: "The GPWC racing series is not a dream, it is reality. It has already started."
