From next year, it will be Honda vs Honda !

Honda Motorcycle and Scooters Ltd (HMSI), the fully-owned Honda subsidiary, is now a relatively small player in the motorcycle market, with a 14 per cent share, selling mostly large engine capacity (125cc and 150cc) bikes. It is also content to sell more scooters than mobikes.

This is now set to change. For, HMSI is taking on its own long-time partner in India, Hero Honda (in which Honda has a 26 per cent stake), and in the latter’s key area of dominance, the 100cc mobike market. The Honda company is working on entering the same segment, with a sporty bike, in 2010. It hopes to sell a few lakh of these a year, to begin with. “The 100cc motorcycle that we plan to launch in India will be a totally new offering. It’ll not be a basic version and will be the sporty type,” says Shinji Aoyoma, president & CEO of HMSI.

That’s not all. Aoyoma is also planning to ensure that in the next few years, mobikes make up for half of total sales. This would be a big change from its current mix, where scooters comprise 65 per cent of all sales. And he is clear that he hopes to do so by entering the 100cc bike segment, which is two-thirds of the 5.7 million per year mobike market.
Industry experts and competitors say Honda’s aggressive entry in the segment could give Hero Honda sleepless nights. The latter commands 80 per cent market share in the 100cc segment, far ahead of its nearest competitor, Bajaj Auto. The segment accounts for 60 per cent of its sales.
Says a senior executive of a competing two-wheeler company: “Till now, Hero Honda was not really affected by HMSI as it concentrated on scooters and avoided the 100cc space. But it’s now clear that those days are over and they will clash in the same market intensely.”
The 100cc motorcycle market is currently divided into two basic segments, entry and deluxe. The sales, too, are equally divided. The entry-level motorcycle segment is pegged between Rs 30,000–35,000, while deluxe models are priced at Rs 37,000–45,000. Industry experts say it is in the upper end of this price band that Honda is planning to position its 100cc bike.
At the moment, the two players say they will not be at each other’s throat at all and there is enough scope for everyone. Also, the two companies have a joint committee which knows in advance what the other is planning to launch in the Indian market.
“When a customer buys a motorcycle from the Hero Honda stable, he buys a package, which includes the brand, design, the value-for-money promise, and the largest servicing network in the country. We field six brands in the 100cc segment, where each brand is uniquely positioned without cannibalising the other. The same will happen when Honda enters the segment,” says Anil Dua, senior vice-president, sales & marketing, Hero Honda.
Dua says there is a large untapped market in the 100cc segment as 70 per cent of the urban population and 90 per cent of the rural one have not bought their first motorcycle. “There’s room for everyone,” says Dua.
HMSI notes that the 100cc market has many segments and it will operate in areas where its partners do not. “If you divide the 100cc motorcycle segment into 10, starting from the entry to the deluxe level, there’s potential in every segment. So, our entry into the top end of the motorcycle segment does not mean we are taking on our partner, Hero Honda. We don’t sell our brands based on engine cc classification or pricing. We cater to a particular segment of customers who value the brand Honda,” says NK Rattan, divisional head, sales & marketing, HMSI.

Hero Honda, TVS Motor and Honda Motorcycle post higher sales !

    http://www.newkerala.com/nkfullnews-1-14183.html

Chennai, April 1: Even as the Indian two-wheeler industry faces a dip in its sales, companies like Hero Honda, TVS motors and Honda Motorcycles have managed to post growth for the fiscal year 2009 (FY-09).

The two-wheeler sales in the FY-09 have dipped by 333,321 units from 7.755 million units in the previous fiscal.

Reports said that world’s largest two wheeler producer, Hero Honda, sold 3.722 million units for the period under review as against 3.33 million units in FY-08. The company commands more than half of the country’s market share.

The city-based TVS Motor sold just over 1.32 million units logging three percent growth over previous year.

H.S. Goindi, head of sales and marketing at TVS Motors, told IANS: “The year that went past was okay. Nobody gained any major market share. But we are not able to say anything as to how the market would pan out this fiscal though sales during March was good.”

On its part Honda Motorcycle, in a press statement, said that it sold just over 1.07 million units last fiscal as against 907,207 units sold the previous year.

The company has stated that it had improved its market share to 14 percent in FY-09, an improvement of nearly three percent from the last year.

Honda sets eyes on 18% growth this fiscal !

          http://www.financialexpress.com/news...fiscal/446532/

Chandigarh: Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI), the 100% subsidiary of the Honda Motor Company, Japan, is looking at 17-18% volume growth this fiscal (2009-10).
The company registered a turnover of Rs 3,600 crore in the financial year 2008-09 and is targeting Rs 4,200 crore by the end of the current fiscal.
HMSI sold about 10.7 lakh two-wheeler units in 2008-09, up 18% from 9.07 lakh units in 2007-08. “This year we are aiming to sell close to 12.5 lakh two-wheeler units, of which 5.5 lakh will be of our scooter, Activa. Activa sold 4.7 lakh units in 2008-09,” said NK Rattan, head, sales & marketing, HMSI, who was in Chandigarh to launch the new Activa.

The company plans to place the new Activa in its 650 dealerships across India by April 20. “We hope to expand the scooter market with the new Activa and have set a target of selling 5.5 lakh new Activa units in 2009-10. While about 90,000 units were sold in the northern region last year, it is the south that contributes the biggest chunk of ours sales revenue.”
Powered by a 110-cc Honda engine, the new Activa comes with a 15% increased mileage. As per various tests, the average mileage of the scooter comes to around 64 km per litre, claims the company.

The deluxe variant of the new Activa will be the first scooter in the Indian market to have a combi-brake, which enables a shorter braking distance. HMSI has also entered the fun bike market with the recent launch of the CBR1000RR Fireblade and the CB1000R bikes. “We plan to enter the 100-cc segment in a year’s time,” said Rattan.</I></B>

            Wings of change !

            http://www.thehindu.com/mp/2009/05/0...0450560300.htm

BEST IN ITS CLASS The new gearless Honda Activa

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, which has just exited the geared scooter segment in India, has rolled out its new gearless Activa scooter. The company, though, faces the challenging task of meeting the great expectations that scores of scooter riders expect from the Japanese brand.
The original Activa, launched in June 2001, will go down in Indian two-wheeler history as Honda’s very first two-wheeler on our roads. Cautiously positioned to appeal to our masses, it was a huge success, selling for well over eight years without any major modifications along the way. What’s more, the Activa resuscitated the Indian scooter market and today sells close to 40,000 units every month.
Recognising that the Activa was getting dated and needed replacement, Honda worked on a next-generation model and finally introduced it last month. The new Activa settles in alongside its upmarket sibling, the Aviator. While retaining timeless, classic and safe styling, the new scooter uses repair-friendly sheet metal panels for most of its body. A smart front wheel fender and apron draw on current European trends, looking somewhat similar to those on the Aviator, while a bulbous headlight now is halogen-enabled and sits flanked by a pair of clear lens turn indicators.
Instrumentation is fresh and bold, straightforward to read with a fuel gauge inset as standard fare along with the other basic gauges required by scooter users. While levers, grips, mirrors and switches are of the typical Honda scooter variety, the top-end new Activa model comes with a tamper-proof shutter to safeguard its ignition key slot. A front storage bin is now on offer, in addition to an enhanced, 18-litre underseat storage capacity. The new Honda’s floorboard remains comfortably flat, spacious and wide, tapering backwards into the passenger footrest zone. Sleek flank panels sweep up to meet the new scooter’s broad and stylishly rounded tail section. While rear indicators tower on both sides of the Activa’s red brake warning light, an alloy grab handle sits just above. However, there’s no place to accommodate a spare tyre on this new scooter.
The latest Activa draws power from a larger capacity, 109cc, four-stroke, and force air-cooled Honda engine that has increased in stroke and now makes an extra bhp to lift peak power output to 8bhp at 7500rpm. Maximum torque generated by the new motor is 0.9kgm at 5500rpm, with Honda claiming this new, variator-driven engine offers a 15 per cent increase in fuel economy despite its extra pep.
            Fuel efficiency

Better swirl inside the combustion cavity and a refined form for the inlet port help the new Activa improve on fuel efficiency. Similarly, the roller bearings on the rocker arms, lower spring tension on its two valves, as well as a reduction in the cooling fan rotor mass are in the interests of minimal friction, to boost economy.
A throttle position sensor and paper type air-filter element perform their duties within this power plant, and one can expect a refined, smooth power delivery as is experienced on most Honda two-wheelers. Servicing and instant access to the engine bay is facilitated by the incorporation of Honda’s CLIC system that allows tipping backwards of the scooter’s entire rear body.
The new Activa uses a conventional underbone type, tubular steel frame as used by most scooters, and Honda has taken pains to ensure the new Activa retains all the comfort, feel and riding pleasure of the first Activa.
However, the new Activa lacks telescopic forks, alloy rims or the option of a front disc brake as are today offered by some of its recent rivals. Honda would have done well to provide these on such an important new model. Ten-inch steel rims are used on both ends, with linked front suspension deployed at the front and the engine playing swingarm and linking up to its rear suspension. The rear tyre provides a Tuff Up tube that reduces chances of a puncture by as much as 70 per cent.
The new Activa’s seating position stays upright and commuter friendly as on the original scooter. A novel new feature is the option of CBS (Combined Braking System), a mechanically operated technology that helps the scooter stop in relatively short distances and offer safer stability during braking. CBS works with the left lever simultaneously activating both the front and rear brakes via two cables that run out from the lever to both drums. The right (commonly the front brake) lever remains connected to only the front drum as on a conventional braking system, and this is activated as on a normal scooter. How well the system works on the road remains to be experienced by us. This scooter offers the safety of a brake locking clamp on its left brake lever.
The latest Activa will sell in two versions, with six paint choices, including a neat- looking white. The other colours on offer are red, black, metallic purple, metallic silver and metallic grey.
Modern-day Indian politicians would give an arm and a leg to earn the mass appeal of a model as popular as the Activa, and this latest variant clearly looks set to build upon its predecessor’s success.
The novel Combined Braking System, offers stability during braking

2008 Honda CBR1000RR Hose Clamp Recall

by Paul Crowe - "The Kneeslider" on 5/22/2009
                in Motorcycle Recalls, Motorcycle Safety
Honda has issued a recall for the 2008 CBR1000RR for a problem with a water pump hose clamp. Please read the details below.
Manufacturer: Honda (American Honda Motor Co.)
                Model Year: 2008
                Models affected: CBR1000RR
                NHTSA Campaign Number: 09V174000
                Potential Units Affected: 12894
Problem: Honda is recalling 12,894 model year 2008 CBR1000RR motorcycles. A coolant hose clamp located on the water pump cover may break due to fatigue caused by vibration generated at continuous high engine speeds. If the clamp breaks, hot coolant can spray onto the riders left lower leg causing scalding to the rider.
Corrective Action: Dealers will install the new coolant hose clamp free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on or before June 6, 2009. Owners may contact Honda at 866-784-1870.

Honda to launch 100cc bike for Rs 40k-45k !

New Delhi: Two-wheeler maker Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India will enter the high-volume entry level motorcycle segment with the launch of a 100cc bike by early next year, which is expected to be priced at around Rs 40,000-45,000.
The company, which launched a new variant of its 125cc bike CBF Stunner, aims to have a bigger presence in the Indian motorcycle market with new products.
"The Indian two-wheeler market is predominantly motorcycle oriented, so we have to align ourselves according to the market," Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) President and CEO Shinji Aoyama said.
"We will be launching a completely new 100cc bike by the end of this fiscal. It will be a bit higher priced than the entry level bikes in the market now, but it will not be higher priced than the 125cc bikes," he added.
Aoyama said the new 100cc bike could be priced "around Rs 40,000-Rs 45,000".
He also said the 100cc bike would not 'cannibalise' Hero Honda's products.
"I am not aiming at making big business there (in the 100cc segment). I want to satisfy people who want Honda products at that price," Aoyama said. Currently, the 100cc segment is dominated by Hero Honda, which is a joint venture between Japanese auto major Honda and Munjals-promoted Hero Group.</I></B>

Căderea pieţei moto scoate Honda din Dorobanţi !

                    http://www.capital.ro/articol/cadere...ti-121366.html

                      2010 Honda SH150i Scooter Review!
                      http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/127/38...er-Review.aspx

With the cost of owning a car or motorcycle creeping upwards every year, affordable, reliable and economical transportation is becoming increasingly necessary. And for those looking for a machine to meet these prerequisites, one only needs to look at the 2010 Honda SH150i scooter.

Although the SH150i is new here in the States, folks over in Europe have been riding it for the last few years. In fact, in Italy, it’s currently the best-selling scooter not just in Honda’s line-up but in the country’s entire scooter segment.

Within the Honda scooter line, the SH150i is slotted in between the interstate cruising capabilities of the Honda Silver Wing and the inner city aptitude of the soon-to-be-released Honda Elite. It’s built for a person looking for a transportation option that can keep pace with other motorized traffic, whether in the sprawled expanse of the suburbs or the concrete jungle of the city.

Powering this mid-sized scoot is a fuel sipping 153cc single-cylinder 4-stroke engine. It benefits from many of Honda’s modern engine tuning techniques including an overhead camshaft, liquid-cooling and fuel-injection. It’s mated to an automatic transmission, which makes traveling to your destination literally as easy as twisting your wrist.
Turn the key, grab either brake lever, prod the starter button and the engine zips right up with about as much noise as grandma’s sewing machine. No doubt about it, this Honda scoot is one quiet machine and it stays that way regardless – be it idling at a stop light or zipping around at full speed.

In terms of acceleration, whether you feed in the throttle gently or slam it open the SH150i accelerates the same. Initially power comes on softly, then right around 10 mph, you can feel it advance with a tad more authority, yet it always smooth and never feels intimidating.

A 153cc 4-Stroke single-cylinder engine propels the SH150i to right around 65 mph on flat ground.

While it won’t win any drag races against a driver with a lead foot, you might surprise the SUV commander next to you. In fact, unless they’re on their game, the little SH will usually getaway first. It isn’t until around 40 mph that your neighbor in the 4000 pound tank has gathered enough steam to pass.

On level road with this 180-pound pilot, the SH will accelerate to right around 65 mph in roughly 15 seconds without a hint of vibration. Add a steep downgrade and speed increases another 10 mph. In fact, is speed is high enough for it to be operated on the freeway. Even at maximum speed the rear view mirrors deliver a decent buzz-free picture of what’s happening behind you, plus the scooter tracks straight without a hint of instability. Uphill the SH manages to muster a minimum of 60 mph. And unlike other mid-sized scooters we’ve tested, it actually accelerates as you climb up. At speed wind buffeting effects are minimal, however, a $299.95 accessory windscreen is still available for purchase.

Since scooters fitted with an automatic transmission have negligible engine braking, it’s important to have effective brakes and we’re pleased to report that this is just another attribute of the SH. Up front it uses a single 220mm disc which gets clamped by a twin-piston caliper hydraulically actuated with the right hand lever. The rear wheel is controlled via a less reactive drum-style brake featuring Honda’s Combined Braking System (CBS) in which the rear brake is linked to the front.

What this means is that whenever the left-hand side brake lever is pressed the scooter automatically applies the front brake. Conversely, when the rider squeezes the right-hand brake lever it only initiates the front brake without any linking effect.

Grab the left brake lever (combined rear/front brake effect) by itself and stopping distance isn’t that impressive, but is superior to just using the rear brake on a typical motorcycle. One plus of the system is that even if you panic and tug the lever all the way to the bar (as long as the road is dry) you have almost no chance of locking up either wheel thereby allowing you to maintain forward control.

A 220mm disc is pinched by a twin-piston caliper which is hydraulically operated via a right-hand lever.
Squeeze the front brake lever however, and you’ll observe just how effective it is at slowing you even from top speed. Squeeze both levers together and stopping distances is reduced further thus becoming the preferred method for ensuring quick, safe stops.

Average sized riders will appreciate how much room there is while seated and even my 6-foot tall frame wasn’t cramped at the controls of the SH. Also the distance between the rider and the handlebars is short, which translates into a very relaxed riding position with your elbows resting to the side naturally.

There is also a sensible amount of leg room and some cleverly placed cargo hooks built into the firewall to allow storage of say a grocery bag, or whatever else you might be lugging around. Additional storage for a half-helmet is available underneath the seat accessed by turning the ignition key counter-clockwise. A $268.95 rear trunk Honda accessory adds even more storage capacity.

In spite of weighing over 300 lbs, this scooter it is very easy to lift up and down off its center stand. Due to the way in which a scooter’s powertrain is mounted in the chassis its weight is carried low, which helps make it feel balanced. The SH150i also changes direction predictably with very little rider effort. It also feels narrow allowing you to slice right through city traffic. In fact, through a crowded city street, you’d be hard pressed to find a vehicle that can get through traffic faster than this Honda scoot.

Typically scooter suspension errs on the soft side and the SH150i continues the trend. Both ends of the machine offer over 3-inches of travel and do an admirable job of reducing the effects of rolling over broken pavement or a series of raised pavement markers. Its soft wide seat also helps mitigate effects of a rough road.

One of the best features of the SH150i is the ability to comfortably ride two-up.
Overall fit and finish is on par with its $4499 price tag. All of its switches are placed logically and are simple to manipulate without taking your eyes off the road. We also appreciated its easy-to-read dash display which contains a swept analog-style speedometer (that optimistically reads up to 100 mph), a fuel and engine coolant temperature gauge, odometer, trip meter and digital clock. General warning lights for the turn signals and headlight high beam are laid above and it also features a nifty oil-change required light, so you’ll know when it’s time for service.

We’re really impressed with Honda’s new scooter and after spending some time at its controls our biggest question is why it took Honda so long to bring it here to the States. If you’re looking for an easy, affordable scooter that can truly keep up with the Jones, the SH150i is it.

Honda’s First Factory Chopper Destined for UK !

                        http://londonbikers.com/news/11988/h...estined-for-uk

Honda (UK) Motorcycles has announced an exciting and new V-twin custom model – the radical Honda VT1300CX – to the UK for 2010.

For many years the chopper motorcycle has summed-up a particular breed and passion of two-wheeled cool. Many are home-built machines - some made to quite basic specifications. But with the VT1300CX you can have all the presence and pose of a chopper, but with the reassurance of Honda’s enviable style and build quality.

The VT1300CX is a whole new breed of cruiser, showing Honda’s wild side and playing on the popular chopper genre. The machine is powered by a 1312cc 52-degree fuel-injected V-twin found in the popular VTX1300 machine, but featuring re-profiled camshafts and a new exhaust system. The single-pin crank gives the bike a unique sound which growls through the machine’s twin stacked pipes. Meanwhile, the radiators for the liquid-cooled machine are neatly tucked out of sight for a more ‘traditional’ look. It also boasts a new programmed fuel injection system, further contributing to the impressively low fuel consumption of 56.5mpg*.

For cruisers and choppers, style is king and the head-turning looks, coupled with great attention to detail of the VT1300CX, are a milestone. The overall classic profile accentuates the whole chopper look. This is thanks to the widely-raked front forks, the small, high-set 12.8-litre fuel tank which sits behind the single chrome headlight, down to the striking nine-spoke front and seven spoke rear wheels. Dominating the mid-section is the punchy V-twin motor, while the slim front tyre is exaggerated by the fat and wider rear tyre. The whole look is completed with a ‘hard-tail’ look rear-end and an LED tail-light.

The long, low chassis is lean with its stretched-out wheel base and sleek lines, which cloak a single shock rear suspension system with an aluminium swing arm and adjustable rebound and preload adjustment. This combination provides riding comfort that’s far above the norm for a chopper.

The VT1300CX – with its great package of looks, sound and feel – is effectively Honda’s first factory-finished chopper and has the longest wheelbase of any production Honda ever – a full 1805mm between both axles. But, despite this and its radical looks, it’s still a Honda, which means the ultimate in performance and poise as well as good fuel economy, with fun and easy of riding and assured handling.

For customers who want to add an individual touch to their VT1300CX and make it even more unique, a range of accessories will be available to include:
                        • A tubular chrome backrest and optional backrest pad for pillion comfort
                        • A wide, low screen with chrome stars for protection from the elements when cruising the streets
                        • Colour-matched front spoiler for increased custom appearance
                        • Chrome-plated steel rear fender to complete the solo-seat look

The VT1300CX will be available in two colours – the striking glint blue wave metallic provides an eye-catching option, while the graphite black accentuates its extravagant styling. The price of this new model will be announced later in the year.

For further information about any of Honda’s great range of scooters, off-road machines or road bikes, genuine parts, accessories, latest offers and forthcoming events, visit your local dealer who can be found using the ‘Dealer Search’ facility within the motorcycles section of www.honda.co.uk or by calling 0845 200 8000.

The 2009 Honda Silverwing, the Touring Honda Scooter !

                            http://www.associatedcontent.com/art...ng.html?cat=27

Absolutely a Cross-country Ride, the 2009 Honda Silverwing

You can say at least one thing about the Honda motorcycle company- they make every bike with great fit and finish, and impressive customer loyalty. The 2009 Honda Silverwing is the Honda scooter that most people walk right to when they walk into the dealership. It has a presence that while impressive, is not overwhelming. During the ride, the 2009 Honda Silverwing is as compliant and easy-to-handle as you would expect a Honda scooter to be, but doesn't flash its 515-pound bulk at you. The 2009 Honda Silverwing is no whale. Instead, what you find is a Honda scooter that simply loves to be ridden, whether you destination is the office, corner market, or Aunt Betty's place three states over. The 2009 Honda Silverwing is more than capable of highway speeds, thanks to its 582cc liquid-cooled engine, but you just might find yourself wanting to do more of your Honda scooter cruising on the great American back roads, anyway. The 2009 Honda Silverwing inspires not only the ride, but a slightly more casual pace to that ride.

The 2009 Honda Silverwing scooter is powered by a 582cc liquid-cooled four stroke parallel twin engine that features Dual overhead Camshafts, four valves per cylinder, and computer controlled ignition with electronic advance. Four-hole injectors push air into the combustion chamber. The transmission is of the automatic variety, and drives the rear wheel with a belt. The suspension in the front of the 2009 Honda Silverwing is a 41 mm hydraulic fork that offers the rider a plush 4.7 inches of travel, while in the back, a swingarm with dual hydraulic shocks and five position spring preload adjustability provides 4.5 inches of travel. This helps the 2009 Honda Silverwing to be a great ride not only over the roads around town, but gives it the ability to traverse highways with equal aplomb. Braking is handled by a single front 276mm disc with a three-piston caliper, and a 240mm disc on the rear wheel with a twin piston caliper. Unusual for scooters, the 2009 Honda Silverwing is available with ABS brakes .

Unfortunately, the 2009 Honda Silverwing is available in just one color, Candy dark red. It does look good, though, but for the price, $8,499 the least that Honda could do is have at least one other color option. Alas, that won't likely take place until Scooters take a greater market share in the U.S. than they do now. The red does look good, though, and it certainly helps that your neighbor isn't likely to have a 2009 Honda Silverwing parked in his garage.

Honda Reveals Two New 2010 Models: the Shadow Phantom and the NT700V !

                              http://motorcycles.about.com/b/2009/...the-nt700v.htm

                              Friday September 4, 2009
In addition to the Elite, SH150i, and Fury, Honda has announced two more 2010 models: the Shadow Phantom cruiser and the NT700V touring bike. The Shadow Phantom incorporates the same 745cc fuel-injected v-twin found in the Shadow Aero and Shadow Spirit 750, and surrounds it with arguably easier-on-the-eyes, blacked out bodywork that Honda says is "bobber influenced." The Shadow Phantom is priced at $7,999.
The NT700V is a bit harder to pigeonhole. Its un-catchy alphanumeric nomenclature follows the trend led by bikes like the Kawasaki ER-6n, and Honda refers to this saddlebag-equipped upright as "the only true lightweight touring bike on the market." Powered by a 680cc v-twin, the standard NT700V comes in red and is priced at $9,999, while the $10,999 ABS-equipped model is only available in Metallic Silver. Both bikes hit dealerships this November.
Honda has also announced new graphics and colors for the 2010 CBR600RR and CBR1000RR sport bikes, with the latter receiving engine tweaks that yield smoother power delivery; no word yet on whether or not these four bikes are the last updates we'll see to Honda's 2010 lineup.

                              2010 Honda CBR1000RR First Look !

                              http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/625/45...irst-Look.aspx

Honda’s 2010 CBR1000RR gets a few more tweaks as compared to its little brother the CBR600RR. Although it does get the same BNG (Bold New Graphics) treatment, the Winged Warriors also increased the diameter of the flywheel, adding weight to it for more inertia, presumably for better low-rpm torque and smoother running just off idle. A redesigned license plate assembly makes for quicker removal for those wishing to hit the track, while the muffler cover is now redesigned for improved looks. The new colors include Pearl Orange/Light Metallic Silver and an updated Red/Black on the base model. As for the C-ABS model, it’s only available in Black. This caps the changes for the big-bore CBR, a bike which has now won the Motorcycle-USA Superbike Smackdown two years running. With Aprilia and BMW entering liter-class wars for ‘10 it should be interesting to see if the mighty Honda can stay on top with only a small host of changes. Stay tuned…

Why mess with a good thing? Honda doesn't change much with its Superbike CBR1000RR.

                              CBR1000RR

How do you improve upon the machine rated best by one magazine after the other, a revolutionary literbike that’s the lightest, best handling, most compact and highest performing sportbike to be found? Last year we made the CBR1000RR available with our high-tech electronically controlled Combined ABS for the ultimate in sophisticated sportbike braking performance, and the new 2010 model adds engine changes that provide an even smoother power delivery.
