    The 2009 Acura TSX Technology Package delivers a blend of luxury at extremely competitive prices, according to auto columnist Scott Wasser.

    It's sporty, elegant and technologically advanced, but while it appears sleeker than its predecessor, this doesn't translate to the mechanics.

    Despite gems like the new 2009 Acura TSX sedan and the RDX crossover, the Acura brand image that once screamed to consumers like a "Price is Right" contestant now seems as sedate as a defending "Jeopardy" champion, and its performance leaves a lot to be desired.

    Its style and comfort can't make up for the fact that it is boring. Its steering, which Acura claims offers a more precise feel, is vague, Wasser says. A more communicative steering system and a brawnier engine would entice more drivers, although comfort and refinement will still appeal to many consumers.

      Acura dezvaluie TSX V6

      Acura TSX este considerata una dintre cele mai manevrabile sedanuri cu tractiune fata, insa a fost criticata pentru lipsa puterii. Acura a raspuns criticilor la Salonul Auto de la Chicago, prezentand noul TSX V6.

      Bazat pe varianta standard de Acura TSX, noul model primeste motorul de 3,5 l VTEC V6 preluat de la TL. Puterea a crescut astfel de la 201 CP la 280 CP, si, va fi transmisa rotilor din fata prin intermediul unei transmisii automatice in 5 trepte.

      Pentru a se descurca cu noua putere, TSV V6 a primit suspensii sport, jante mai mari si frane imbunatatite.

      Noul TSX V6 va fi veriga lipsa intre TSX in 4 cilindri si fratele mai mare, TL. Pentru a-si indeplini cu brio rolul, masina a primit ca dotari standard interior din piele, trapa electrica si Bluetooth.

      In ciuda declinului pietelor auto, vanzarile de TSX au crescut cu 11 procente in ianuarie 2009, fata de aceeasi perioada din 2008. Introducerea noii variante are rolul de a stimula si mai mult vanzarile. Modelul va fi disponibil in vara, insa Acura nu a anuntat pretul inca.

        No two ways around it, the revamped 2009 Acura TSX is a larger, heavier car than the version it replaces. Sure, the suspension wizards tinkered around with anti-roll bars, increased the track width, fitted some trick new dual-mode dampers, and shifted the roll center to keep the new TSX feeling as composed as its lighter, nimbler forbearer. Even the drivetrain techies got involved, bumping the 2.4L four-banger's compression ratio, improving its breathing for a small increase in torque (8 lb-ft to 172), and shortening the gear ratios in the manual-equipped car to prevent acceleration times from slipping.


        Still, these changes are barely able to confront the TSXs newfound three inches in width, 2.5 inches in length, and 150 pounds in curb weight -- a fact no amount of corporate finger-pointing at ballooning A4 and 3 Series models could deny. And keep in mind that the previous TSX was no barnstormer itself.
        The most obvious alternative to putting a car on a diet is to add more power, and that's precisely what Acura has done with its 2010 Acura TSX V-6. Honda's premium automaker has stuffed a 280-hp, 3.5L V-6 into the engine bay of the TSX to mute any cries that the European Accord-based sedan has lost some of its soul. Essentially the same VTEC-enhanced engine found in Acura's base-level TL midsize sedan, the TSX also helps to bridge the gap between TSX and TL in the model lineup. The TSX V-6 will be offered exclusively with Acura's Sequential SportShift automatic, meaning steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters will have to quench enthusiasts' yearnings for a manual gearbox -- at least for now.
        With the new V-6 comes a retuned suspension. The basic TSX configuration remains -- double wishbones up front and a multilink rear setup -- but the V-6 variant will receive exclusive specifications aimed at providing a sportier experience than the standard TSX. Additionally, 18-in., split five-spoke aluminum alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot all-season tires, will distinguish the TSX V-6 model from the four-cylinder variant, as well as providing sharper turn-in and crisper handling. Other than the rolling stock and a V-6 badge, the exterior will be identical to that of its sibling.


        Inside the TSX V-6, luxury still hasn't been banished in the name of performance and the standard equipment list is significant. A leather-upholstered interior, power moonroof, automatic climate control, premium seven-speaker sound system, Bluetooth, and auxiliary jack music interface are all no-cost items on the spec sheet. As with the base model car, stepping up to the Acuralink navigation system with rear-view camera and Acura/ELS Surrround premium stereo will require the optional Technology Package.
        Acura says that respective to the upscale migration of the TL sedan, its new TSX V-6 is aimed "squarely at youthful buyers who want a performance-oriented sports sedan in a more personal size." Does Acura's German competition have cause for concern? We'll have to wait and see.

          CHICAGO (AP) -- Acura hopes its new souped up TSX model will be a hit with youthful drivers when sales of the V-6 model begin this summer.

          The sport sedan, which debuted Wednesday at the Chicago Auto Show, is equipped with a 280-horsepower 3.5-liter engine, five-spoke aluminum wheels, double-wishbone front and multilink rear suspension system, and standard leather interior.
          It's targeted at "youthful buyers who want a performance-oriented sports sedan in a more personal size," according to executives who say the vehicle will fill a niche between the four-cylinder TSX and the luxury TL sedan.

          The company did not release pricing or the fuel economy information for the new model.
          Wednesday's announcement is the first in a series of updates to Acura's 2010 line up.
          Jeff Conrad, Acura's vice president of sales, said the automotive company planned to announce enhancements to most of its fleet of sedans and SUVs in the coming months.

            Deci mi-au fost ascultate doleantele mai vechi V6 pe aceasta masina este absolut superb O sa vina si pe Accord...

            Sper doar ca versiunea europeana sa aiba cutia noua in 6 trepte, si nu vechea cutie de pe TL in 5 trepte, cum este acum aia e o porcarie.

                  Deci am inceput sa sper ca voi ramane in familia Honda... si dupa masina actuala Pe care, la cat de mult am ajuns sa tin la ea, nu cred ca o voi vinde prea curand. O va conduce nevasta-mea, eventual La cat am ingrijt-o si cat de bine am mers cu ea, e si pacat.

                    Stii care o sa fie paradoxul, in vremurile astea tulburi? O sa tot avem parte de ele, o sa ne holbam cu jind la ele (V6-urile de la Acura) da' nu ni le vom permite, iar atunci o sa ne spunem in gand:"la cat consuma astea, tot mai bine cu cl7-ele meu!"

                    • V6 pe Accordul european? Deloc rentabil, atat financiar cat si pentru imagine si asta din cele mai simple motive:
                      - fiindca Legendul o dovedeste foarte clar ca o masina japoneza de clasa asta se vinde catastrofal in Europa (deci cantitativ vorbind)
                      - fiindca exact asta l-ar astepta si pe Accord.ul V6 care aici nu are nici un fel de imagine in clasa asta
                      - fiindca Accordul nu va face niciodata concurenta Legendului
                      - fiindca Accordul are clasa lui bine definita
                      - fiindca o astfel de motorizarea n-ar face mai mult de 1% din vanzari

                      Dar cui ii place sa viseze: "Vise placute".....dar din cand in cand si o trezire la realitate!

                      • Sunt de acord cu hondatu. Nu ma astept sa ajunga V6-le pe Accordul european.

                        Daca, si doar daca, suntem norocosi s-ar putea sa vedem un motor mai puternic, ceva in genul 2,3 Turbo... desi dupa politica Honda din ultimii ani nu-mi fac sperante.

                        Tostusi, daca va aduce Select Motors sau alta firma Acura TSX atunci dio nu va fi dezamagit

                        • Eh, si ce daca, un TSX este 95% Accord, asa ca uatever

                          Clasa, bani, etc., Legendul nu a fost niciodata atat de reusit precum Accord, fiecare pe clasa lui, desigur. Ca nu merge Legend, e o poveste, dar un Accord mai potent, mai ales acum cand vor sa-l treaca in premium (ahhh as scoate acest cuvant din dictionar), si care costa si cu cel putin 10-15.000 mai putin decat Legend... s-ar putea sa fie putin diferita situatia.

                            • Mda, sa avem noi bani de el, ca o sa scada negresit. Chiar si daca l-ai aduce singur din State... eu unul am mai adus de peste ocean (din Japonia...), si nu e asa mare filosofie. Problema e ca trebuie omologat si ca nu ai garantie
